  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Cattaraugus County stretches from Olean and Salamanca toward Ellicottville and the Allegheny hills. US 219 is the main north–south road toward Buffalo. Ski-season traffic and ordinary town driving share one DMV record. A winter refresher does not raise the insurance reduction above 10% of the base rate.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • US 219. It connects the county toward Erie County and Buffalo. A ticket on 219 is a New York ticket.
  • I-86. The expressway crosses the southern towns, including the Olean area. It is a posted highway.
  • Route 16. A north–south state route through the county’s hills. Convictions here remain on the abstract after the course.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Cattaraugus County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Salamanca sits beside the Allegany Territory of the Seneca Nation. This course reports a New York PIRP completion to the New York DMV. It does not change tribal-land rules or another jurisdiction’s license. You need a New York client ID for the completion to post to a New York record.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.
