  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Chautauqua County runs from Jamestown up to Dunkirk and Fredonia on Lake Erie, with the Chautauqua Institution adding summer traffic around the lake. I-86 and Route 60 are the roads that tie those trips together. Lake-effect snow off Lake Erie is a driving fact. It is not a larger point reduction.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-86. The Southern Tier Expressway crosses the county toward Pennsylvania and Cattaraugus County.
  • Route 60. It connects Jamestown to the Dunkirk and Fredonia area. Posted speeds are the limit, not a county custom.
  • Route 394. This road runs along Chautauqua Lake. Summer volume does not change the 30-day finish window for the internet course.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Chautauqua County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

A Dunkirk commute along the lake and a Jamestown errand on Route 60 produce the same kind of New York conviction. The course cannot be saved up against a future ticket, and it applies only to points from violations in the 18 months before you finish.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Chautauqua County

I cross into Pennsylvania from Jamestown. Will this course fix a Pennsylvania license?

No. This course is reported to the New York DMV. It does not change another state’s license. If you do not have a New York client ID, DMV says an internet completion cannot be applied to your New York record.

Does Chautauqua County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
