This is the statewide American Safety Institute checkout. There is no separate Greene County link or price on this site.

  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Greene County meets the Hudson at Catskill and rises into the Catskills at Hunter, Windham, and Tannersville. I-87 runs along the river. Route 23 and Route 23A climb to the ski towns. A winter weekend on a mountain road and a weekday on the Thruway are one driving record.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-87. The Thruway follows the river through Catskill and Coxsackie. It is posted.
  • Route 23. It climbs from Catskill toward Windham and the mountains. Mountain-road tickets remain on the abstract.
  • Route 32. A valley route through the riverside towns. It does not have a separate insurance rule.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Greene County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

The Rip Van Winkle Bridge connects Catskill to Hudson. People treat that bridge as local. The statute treats both sides as New York. Point reduction still looks back only 18 months and cannot be banked for a later season.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Greene County

Do ski-season tickets in Hunter fall off faster?

No. DMV counts points by the violation date, and most violations keep showing for up to four years. The course does not speed that up. It changes the suspension calculation, not the record an insurer can read.

Does Greene County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
