  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Livingston County sits between Rochester and the Finger Lakes, with Geneseo as the county seat and SUNY Geneseo on the ridge. I-390 is the fast road toward Rochester and Dansville. A student commute and a farm-to-market trip on Route 20A share one New York record.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-390. It runs the length of the county toward Rochester and Steuben County. Interstate tickets stay on the record.
  • US 20A. The ridge road through Geneseo. It is a posted US route, not a campus rule.
  • Route 63. A north–south road through the western towns toward Genesee County.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Livingston County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

People in Avon, Mount Morris, and Dansville drive north into Monroe County for work. The garage can be in Livingston and the workplace in Rochester. Only the principal operator receives the 10% base-rate reduction.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Livingston County

Does a SUNY Geneseo address get a student exception on points?

No. DMV’s point schedule does not have a campus exception. The 5-hour pre-licensing course is the one for many first licenses. The 6-hour course is for the insurance reduction and the suspension calculation.

Does Livingston County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
