  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Orleans County is a small lake-plain county. Albion is the seat, and Medina and Holley are the other centers on Route 31. Lake Ontario is the northern edge. There is no big city. The absence of a city does not change the 11-points-in-24-months suspension rule.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • Route 31. The east–west road through Medina, Albion, and Holley.
  • Route 98. It runs north from Batavia through Albion toward the lake.
  • Lake Ontario State Parkway. It reaches the western end of the county along the shore. It is posted.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Orleans County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Many residents drive to Rochester or Batavia for work. Those miles are still New York miles. The course is online, so you do not drive to Albany to take it, even though DMV lists the sponsor’s New York address there.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Orleans County

Is Albion’s discount smaller because the county is small?

No. DMV describes a 10% reduction in the base rate, not a discount that scales with county population. Claims that the reduction may be less or more than 10% a year are not the statement the advertising rule allows.

Does Orleans County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
