  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Schoharie County is the valley west of Albany, with Schoharie and Cobleskill as the centers and I-88 as the fast road. SUNY Cobleskill adds student traffic to a county of farms and two-lane roads. A conviction on I-88 counts with a conviction on a town road.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-88. It crosses the county toward Albany and Oneonta. It is posted.
  • Route 30. It runs through Schoharie toward the Mohawk and the Catskills.
  • Route 7. An older east–west road through Cobleskill. Tickets stay on the record.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Schoharie County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

After storms, people here know that a washed-out road is a driving problem, not a DMV exception. The course still has a 30-day finish window, and the insurance reduction is still 10% of the base rate, not a disaster-aid program.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Schoharie County

Does a Cobleskill student ticket follow a different schedule?

No. DMV’s schedule is statewide. The 6-hour course does not dismiss a ticket. The 5-hour course is only for the pre-licensing requirement.

Does Schoharie County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
