  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Schuyler County is small and wrapped around the south end of Seneca Lake. Watkins Glen is the village people mean, and Montour Falls is next door. Route 14 runs up the lake toward Geneva. Race weekends and ordinary lake-road driving are the same statute.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • Route 14. The lake road through Watkins Glen toward Geneva. It is posted.
  • Route 414. It runs up the east side of Seneca Lake. A ticket here stays on the record.
  • Route 224. A route through Montour Falls toward the next county. It is ordinary New York driving.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Schuyler County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

A weekend visitor and a year-round resident do not get different point math. If the conviction is on a New York record, the 18-month lookback applies. The course does not become a credit you can store for next year’s event.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Schuyler County

Do race weekends at Watkins Glen change how points are counted?

No. DMV counts convictions by the violation date under the statewide schedule. An event weekend is not a separate point system.

Does Schuyler County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
