  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Yates County is Penn Yan at the north end of Keuka Lake, with Dundee and the vineyards toward the south. Route 14A and Route 54 are the roads. It is a small county between larger ones. Small does not mean a smaller point value.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • Route 14A. It runs through Penn Yan toward Geneva. It is posted.
  • Route 54. The Keuka Lake road toward Bath and Hammondsport. Tickets stay on the record.
  • Route 364. A connector along the east side of the lake. It is ordinary New York driving.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Yates County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Winery traffic on a fall weekend and a winter trip to Geneva for groceries are the same record. The course cannot be used as credit against next year’s tickets. It looks back 18 months, and only that far, for the point reduction.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Yates County

Does vineyard traffic in the fall change the insurance rule?

No. The insurance reduction is 10% of the base rate for three years, for the principal operator. It is not a seasonal rate, and it does not stop other premium increases.

Does Yates County have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
