  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

The Town of Hempstead covers a large share of Nassau County, including Levittown, Uniondale, and communities toward the south shore. The Southern State Parkway, the Meadowbrook, and the Wantagh are the roads. The Nassau County page is the county overview. This page is the town, where most of those parkway exits land.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Hempstead. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

A car garaged in Levittown and driven to Queens uses the same principal-operator rule as a car garaged in Garden City. Hempstead does not add a town percentage on top of the state’s 10% of the base rate.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.
