  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

The Town of Islip includes Bay Shore, Brentwood, Central Islip, and communities along the south shore of Suffolk. The Sagtikos State Parkway, Sunrise Highway, and the Long Island Expressway are the through roads. The Suffolk County page covers the East End as well. This page stops at Islip.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Islip. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Brentwood and Bay Shore are different streets inside one town. A ticket in either place is a Suffolk conviction on a New York record. The course does not sort them apart.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.
