  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Kingston is the Ulster County city where the Thruway, Route 28, and Broadway meet. Uptown and the Rondout are different streets from the traffic circle. The county page covers New Paltz, Saugerties, and the Catskill road. This page is the city.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-87. The Thruway at Kingston. Tickets stay on the record.
  • Route 28. It leaves the city toward the Catskills. It is posted.
  • Broadway. The main city street. The course does not dismiss a ticket written here.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Kingston. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

A Kingston garage and a job in Poughkeepsie or Albany is still one principal operator. Taking the course twice in one year does not improve the 10%. DMV says you repeat it every 36 months to keep the insurance reduction.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Kingston

Is Kingston’s Thruway exit a separate point zone?

No. Thruway and city tickets combine on your New York record. The course changes the suspension calculation, not the list of convictions.

Does Kingston have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
