  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Niagara County is Niagara Falls, Lockport, and the towns along the Niagara River and the Erie Canal. I-190 runs from Buffalo to the falls and the Lewiston-Queenston crossing. This course reports to the New York DMV. It does not change a Canadian license or a bridge toll.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-190. It runs from the Buffalo line to Niagara Falls and Lewiston. It is posted.
  • Route 31. The canal road through Lockport and Medina toward Orleans County.
  • Robert Moses Parkway. A road along the gorge. Scenic traffic is still New York traffic if you are convicted.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Niagara County. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Many households garage a car in North Tonawanda or Lockport and work in Erie County. The principal-operator rule still decides the 10%. The Buffalo page covers the Erie County side of that commute.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.
