  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Watertown is the Jefferson County city on the Black River, with Public Square and Arsenal Street as local roads and I-81 as the way in. Fort Drum traffic uses Route 3. The county page covers the river and the Thousand Islands. This page is the city.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-81. It bypasses the city toward Syracuse and the Thousand Islands. It is posted.
  • Route 3. The road toward Fort Drum. Tickets stay on the record.
  • Arsenal Street. A main commercial street. Local convictions are not erased.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Watertown. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Drivers new to New York plates should confirm they have a New York client ID before counting on the course to post. DMV says that without that ID, an internet completion cannot be applied to a New York record.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Watertown

Does Fort Drum traffic use a military point system?

A New York conviction uses the New York schedule. This course does not replace military rules and does not change another state’s license.

Does Watertown have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
