  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

Huntington, South Huntington, and the Route 110 corridor are the northwestern corner of Suffolk. The Long Island Expressway and Northern State Parkway carry commuters toward Nassau and Queens. Cold Spring Harbor and Huntington village are slower roads. All of them are New York.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • Route 110. The north–south commercial road through the town. Tickets stay on the record.
  • Long Island Expressway. I-495 along the south of the town. It is posted.
  • Northern State Parkway. It crosses toward Nassau. A parkway conviction is a New York conviction.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for Huntington. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

Route 110 is a work destination for people who live farther east. If the car is garaged in Huntington, the principal operator is still a policy question, not a town-hall question.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for Huntington

Does Huntington follow Nassau’s rules because it is on the county line?

Nassau and Suffolk do not have different PIRP rules. The state does. A ticket in either county counts on your New York record.

Does Huntington have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
