  • 10% of the base rate for 3 years
  • Up to 4 points on a suspension calculation
  • 6 hours online, finish within 30 days

White Plains is the Westchester county seat and a job center. I-287, the Bronx River Parkway, and the Hutchinson River Parkway meet nearby. Cars garaged in Putnam, the Bronx, and the rest of Westchester all end up here. The ticket’s county does not decide the point total. The violation date does.

How it works

  1. 1 Enroll at checkout The button opens American Safety Institute’s checkout. This site does not change that address.
  2. 2 Finish the 6-hour course DMV says the internet course includes 320 minutes of instruction and must be finished within 30 days.
  3. 3 Certificate, then your insurer The sponsor tells DMV. You give the paper certificate to your insurer. Points stay on your record.

Statewide rule, short version: a 10% reduction for three years in the base rate of your current automobile liability, no-fault, and collision premiums, if you are the principal operator. Up to 4 points come off DMV’s suspension math, not off the record. The full limits are on the 6-hour course page.

Roads that matter here

  • I-287. The Cross Westchester Expressway. It is posted.
  • Bronx River Parkway. It runs toward the Bronx and toward Valhalla. Tickets stay on the record.
  • Westchester Avenue. A commercial road through the city. The course does not dismiss tickets written on it.

DMV office

The internet course does not require a trip to a DMV office. If you need an office for a permit, a license, or a driving record, search the NY DMV office finder for White Plains. Hours and which transactions an office handles change, so use that live list instead of a copied address.

What stays the same

A White Plains workplace does not make every commuter the principal operator. The car’s policy does. If you are not the principal operator, finishing the course does not move the 10% onto your household automatically.

If you are 18 or older and still need a first New York license, that is the 5-hour pre-licensing course, not this one.

Questions for White Plains

I work in White Plains and live in the Bronx. Which page do I use?

Either page enrolls you in the same course. Your New York record is statewide. Read the Bronx page for city speed limits and TLC, and this page for the Cross Westchester roads.

Does White Plains have its own course price?

No. This site links to one statewide checkout for the New York 6-hour internet course. American Safety Institute publishes the fee on its course page, and the checkout page shows the amount due. The DMV point and insurance rules do not change by county or city.
